Resurfacing / Repairing Your Old Cutting Board

Over time, cutting boards may need to be resurfaced and in some cases may need to be repaired. If you have an old board you love but would like it to become new again, we are here to help! The board does not need to have been purchased from us to use this service.

Resurfacing and repairs will be billed on labor time to complete, plus shipping if not local. Cost will be determined before work is done for your peace of mind.  Resurface/repairs will be calculated on a $20/hr rate. A simple resurface would take about an hour, a simple crack repair a bit more and will include a resurfacing. More severe repairs will require communication and either seeing the board or pictures of the board if not local to determine cost. Contact us at info@llwoodencreations.com to begin the process. 

Resurfacing involves reworking all surfaces of your board. We will, if needed, surface route, sand, and refinish both sides and edges of your board. When complete, food safe mineral oil and beeswax will be applied to make your board new and ready to impress again! 

If your board has cracked, it is still possible to repair. This process involves cutting out the damaged portion and re-gluing, or filling and smoothing certain types of cracks. Because of this process, your board may be slightly smaller when completed. One simple crack along the grain line would remove approximately 1/8 inch of material to repair. More significant cracks may require a more involved process to repair.

Heavily damaged boards, such as warped and severely cracked, may be beyond repair. However, if your board is much loved and you really would like to save it, even for sentimental reasons, you may be surprised at what can be done.
